The Light

I've really been making an effort to begin the day with morning prayer. I especially love having it in our guestroom because it has the most light. I love soaking in the warmth of the sun on our little loveseat. Sitting in the sun made me think about light and what it means to me. Here are some words that came to mind.

Light:
  • Vulnerable
  • Exposed
  • Silent
  • Healing
  • Peace
  • Warmth

I feel the most vulnerable in the light. I feel completely exposed especially when I am natural with no make up or "fancy" clothes;)  I'm faced with my nothingness, my weaknesses and my rawness.  At the same time however, I am greeted with such healing and peace. I feel refreshed and completely free. Nothing is hidden in the light. I am raw yet beautiful.

I was listening to Josh Garrels at the time I was sitting in the sun. This line stood out to me in the song, Jacaranda Tree.

"I pray light will
Leak from out pockets
We’ll be drenched, overcome
At night the fireflies
Streamers at our sides
Silent flaming arcs of hope."

~Josh Garrels

God uses the light to reveal more about Himself and His beauty. The more we pray, the more we sit in the light, the better we are able to see and experience Him talking to us in our everyday lives :)

"...but the man who lives by the truth comes out into the light so that it may be plainly seen that what he does is done in God." ~John 3:21

  1. beautiful reflection and encouragement! and great song...

One of my favorite light verses that goes with your thoughts:
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light, for light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth.
    Ephesians 5:8-9
