Peter encouraged me with this verse:
“O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”
The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord
, have spoken!”
Jerimiah 1:6-8
Step 2. A Splash of Print: A conservative, classy print can say a lot about your taste and age. Although I love them, in this case, I'll stay away from animal prints, large stripes, polka dots, or trendy patterns. I stuck with something a bit more timeless and feminine, and picked this floral blouse that my grandma gave me, haha! She has very nice taste and I generally love what she buys me, but I definitely wouldn't want her to pick out my entire wardrobe.
Step 3. Structured Jacket: I love the way blazers add that spark of "put together" even to jeans and a t-shirt. In this case, I went with the neutral fitted blazer to stay pretty conservative, but the cuffed sleeves give it a touch of style.
Step 4. Shoes: Again, neutral ...to match my blazer (see next step). I picked a lower heeled boot tucked under jeans. I would typically cuff my jeans, but I think that might be a bit "young." And of course, I wanted to stay away from flats, considering my height.
Step 5. Jewelry: Two words: matchy matchy! Older people like to match and although I'm a mixing-it-up kind of girl, keeping my outfits pallet to a minimum definitely makes me feel older. My go-to age upgrade for jewelry are the safe & classic pearls. Although I generally grab the statement necklaces these days, pearls will always have a special place in my heart!
Step 6. Hair & Make-up: I've found that wearing my hair up makes me look younger and even when I wear my all hair down I feel young too... so I wore it half up if I want to seem older. As for make-up, I stayed with neutral's ...except lips, a bolder lip shade says older, fo sho!
So what you do girls think? You girls are definitely in the same boat and probably have some tips for me. Do you agree? Any other tips?
So cute! You look so old;) I agree with you. I find that I look oldest when my hair is down and when I wear make-up. I think blazers and heels help too. Neutrals and muted colors help make us look older too. I tend to like bright and happy colors lol. I'll make a post with some of my favorite sophisticated outfits and accessories :) P.S. You are going to do awesome tonight! You have a gift for speaking. God always uses you in such a gentle, confident, and genuine way :) I'll be praying for you.
