My Cute Little Pumpkin

Fall Inspirations

How I stay inspired during the fall...

Paint your nails fall colors. Here are two of my favorite colors.
The "It" Color by OPI and Smokin Hot by Essie.

Wear some of your favorite fall shirts or sweaters. I just found this shirt for $6 at a local vintage shop. It is real wool and it was made in Scotland.
Play with cute animals or little kids lol.

Plan fun little trips not too far from home. A park, a lake, or even a library.
I also make sure I have cute shoes on while on my adventures.

Listen to fall music. I found these CD's at a local secondhand bookstore. They were free because I earned store credit for selling my books :) Gillian Welch and Shovels and Rope.

 Light cozy scented candles.

Read your favorite authors. I love Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson especially in the fall.

Drink tea, lattes, coffee from your favorite mugs:) It's tradition for Meag and me to get 4 of the same cups and give two to the other person. This way we think of each other when we drink from it.  I got these for like $5 at a local antique shop.

Wear fun hats! Meag got me this one and I love it!!

I woke up this morning and this is what I saw...

“The tints of autumn...a mighty flower garden blossoming under the spell of the enchanter, frost.”

September Song by Kate Wolf

In honor of September....She talks about the Blue Ridge Mountains and Roanoke.

Makes me miss home. We always pass through there on our way back to MD.

Look how beautiful the spiced tea box from Trader Joe's is...not to mention the tea tastes amazing.

Got my new autumn candle from BB&B.

Being Brave

"It's not enough to have feathers. You must dare to fly."
~Cass van Krah

Reading, Lets All Be Brave by Annie Downs, is literally changing my life.  The book has come at such a perfect time. I didn't realize that moving down here to Chattanooga took so much courage (I process later lol). But God has been providing for us and blessing us so much.

Last year was definitely a year of change and of letting go (especially of the things that made me feel comfortable).  It was very difficult at times and quite painful. Suddenly I was very in touch with my "nothingness." But what I've realized is, saying yes to certain things has led me to where I am right now. Last year I said yes to marriage, moving away from home, pursuing my passion for photography. Although it was especially painful at first and took some getting used to, I finally feel like those yeses are bearing good fruit (I'll go into details when we have our googlechat).

While Paul was mowing the lawn Monday evening, he stopped mid mow to bring me this beautiful feather. It kind of made me think about how God brings us feathers in those moments of bravery. It's as if they are feathers of courage.  Each time we gain more feathers (courage) its like we have more momentum and impetus to pursue those bigger things we've always dreamed of. We can either hold on to those feathers, or we can take those feathers and fly!! It's ultimately up to us. I don't know about you, but I've always wanted to fly;)
