Advent Music

I'm probably one of the few crazies that wait until really close to Christmas day (until we decorate our tree, somewhere between the 20-24) to begin listening to Christmas music. But I have found, over the last 6 year, holding off in decorating, listening to Christmas music, and feasting, has helped us to enter more fully into the waiting of Advent and into the Christmas season, when it does (finally) come!

But when everyone else out there has their Christmas tunes on, it's easy for me to feel jealous ....UNLESS, I have some great Advent-y tracks to enjoy! So, without further ado, here are some good Advent songs to add to your pre-Christmas playlists.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel Sufjan Stevens

Come Thou Font Audrey Assad

God With Us All Sons and Daughters

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus Marian Grace

Light of the Word Matt Redman

You'll Come Hillsong

Final Mayfair Friendsgiving

Writing about how amazing my friends are seems like an appropriate way to introduce myself to this blog, no?

Our Second Annual Friendsgiving was a rousing success. Being surrounded by loving friends and plenty of wine is a recipe for good times in my book.

Sometimes I forget how incredibly blessed we are to have each other. I mean, they say you're lucky if you can count your true friends on one hand. Well, I have to use two hands. And I'm so grateful to have each one of you in my life.

Today's Inspiration....

I'm going to decoupage leaves today.

I knit some knew scarves and hung them up for appreciation.

When I wear any of these shoes, I instantly feel more creative. It's fun to leave them out for decoration and inspiration.

Love this tree. Enjoying it's fleeting beauty.

I'm wearing a hat. Love this color especially.

I didn't even bother tying my shoes today. It's better to be free and create than be neat and do nothing.

Made Pumpkin Spice Latte. Very delicious.

What inspired you today?

Quotes

I've been pondering these quotes as of late:

"Yet one of the most essential conditions for God’s grace to act in our lives is saying yes to what we are and to the situations in which we find ourselves."
~ Fr. Jacques Philippe, Interior Freedom

"Hard as it is, we need to learn to forgive other people for making us suffer or disappointing us, and even to accept the problems they create for us as graces and blessings. The attitude is neither spontaneous nor natural, but it is the only one by which to achieve peace and interior freedom."
~ Fr. Jacques Philippe, Interior Freedom

"By accepting the sufferings “offered” by life and allowed by God for our progress and purification, we spare ourselves much harder ones. We need to develop this kind of realism and, once and for all, stop dreaming of a life without suffering or conflict. That is the life of heaven, not earth. We must take up our cross and follow Christ courageously every day; the bitterness of that cross will sooner or later be transformed into sweetness."
